The Service Design label

Summary

A growing number of organizations are using project management methods inspired by Design Thinking to develop new services in the public (local authorities, cultural and educational institutions, etc.) or private (transport, real estate, media, web, etc.) sectors. For these organizations, it's usually a question of adapting to the new behaviors or needs of their users or customers.

Service design is the application of design principles - or "user-oriented design" - to the creation of public policies or corporate strategies. The aim is to better understand situations from the point of view of the intended beneficiaries, to involve them in tests and simulations, and to prototype solutions that can subsequently be deployed with greater chances of success.

This module gives A4 or A5 students the chance to experience an innovation project in small, multi-disciplinary teams, from redefining the order to prototyping the service.

How to apply?

Apply from Monday, July 22, 2024 at 12 noon to Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 12 noon

You can apply via the competition application https://concours.sciencespo-grenoble.fr.

The objectives

  • To enable students from a variety of disciplines (from the various courses at Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA and from the IAE's Innovation Management Master's program) to interact with each other as part of an innovation project.
  • Introduce students to design approaches and project management.
  • Introduce students to various methods for defining the value of an innovation, based on field surveys and business model construction benchmarks.

Teaching format and sequence

The label is open to A4 or A5 students,

Module of eleven 3-hour sessions in year 1,

Alternating theoretical contributions, methods, expertise & external testimonials, project-based work in groups of 3 or 4.

The workshop is open to around twenty students who will experiment with a project-based approach to innovation exploration. They will be guided by a multi-disciplinary team of teacher-researchers and accompanied by a specialist in design thinking approaches.

In turn, they will have to problematize, define a vision, a concept and then the contours of an innovative service.

The various methods used in this module will help them to be as creative as they are critical.
