Frédéric GONTHIER, professor of political science and researcher at the PACTE laboratory

Frédéric GONTHIER is a professor of political science at Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA and a researcher at the PACTE laboratory.
His research focuses on the evolution of value systems in Europe, electoral dynamics, and the associated transformations of democracy.
He is the scientific director of the Challenge 2, “Everyday Citizenship and New Spaces of Democracy”within the AMI SHS DemoCIS. He also coordinates the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) and the European Values Survey (EVS) in France.
He has notably co-edited French Democracy in Distress (Springer, 2025) and Investigating Forty Years of French Politics Through Value Changes (Springer, 2024).
His work has been published in national and international journals such as Acta Politica, European Journal of Political Research, European Political Science Review, French Politics, Political Psychology, Party Politics, French Journal of Political Science, or West European Politics.
