Biography
Chérine Chams El-Dine is a lecturer in political science at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FESP), Cairo University, and vice-coordinator of FESP's French-speaking section. She is also a research associate at the Centre Européen de Sociologie et de Science Politique (CESSP) - CNRS/Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne/ EHESS. She has been a lecturer at the University of Exeter (UK), at the University of London (delocalized program of LSE - European Universities in Egypt), a researcher at the Stiftung Wissenchaft und Politik (SWP - Berlin), and an associate lecturer at the Université Française d'Egypte. She holds a PhD in political and social sciences from the European University Institute in Florence, and her research focuses on the survival strategies of Arab authoritarian regimes, the composition of political and economic elites, popular mobilization and the emergence of new actors, with particular attention to Iraq and Egypt.
