Building on a symposium held at the United Nations in Geneva on the theme “Reinventing Peace with Young People,” this annual award recognizes initiatives led by a new generation committed to dialogue, solidarity, and peace. Among the four award recipients are two students from Sciences Po Grenoble – UGA.
Sidonie Pelletier received second prize for her commitment to supporting Afghan women, particularly through funding distance learning courses that have helped maintain access to education despite the restrictions imposed by the Taliban regime.
Mariano Nkowameso, for his part, was awarded third prize for his work to promote social cohesion in Grenoble, notably through the organization of inter-neighborhood matches aimed at fostering social bonds and preventing urban violence.
Sciences Po Grenoble – UGA, a partner of the AI ODD association, recently organized a trip to Geneva with ten students. It was during this trip that the projects were presented and recognized by the regional chapter of the Rotary Club.
The jury also honored Annabel Paris with the first prize for her work supporting women affected by violence and conflict in Africa through her "Voix en Mouvement" program, as well as Mathieu Chappaz, who received the Special Recognition Award for his use of art as a tool for peace—particularly through film—and his advocacy at the UN in April 2026.
An award from Rotary’s “AURA Young Ambassadors” section was also presented to a doctoral student at Polytech Annecy-Chambéry for research on flood risk prevention.
In total, two students from Polytech Annecy-Chambéry (USMB), two students from Sciences Po Grenoble – UGA, and the Lumen association were honored at this year’s event.
Against the backdrop of significant international tensions, this initiative aims to highlight concrete commitments made by young people in support of peace and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. As Annabel Paris emphasized during the International Day of Consciousness organized with AI-SDGs and numerous partners: “This Award is a recognition, but above all a reminder: peace begins when those who have been silenced can finally be heard.”
The ceremony, which brought together Rotary representatives from across France as well as stakeholders committed to peace and sustainable development, was praised for the quality and diversity of the projects presented.
