Mercotte, whose real name is Jacqueline Mercorelli, is a renowned figure in the world of French pastry, having pursued an outstanding academic career. She completed her first year of preparatory classes in the humanities (Hypokhâgne) in 1960, before graduating from Sciences Po Grenoble – UGA in 1962 with a major in international relations. At the same time, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Savoie.

After a long academic career, she finally decided to pursue a career in cooking. It all began in 1987, when she published her first book, *La nouvelle cuisine à votre portée*. This was a major milestone that marked the beginning of a new passion. In 2005, she launched her blog, “La cuisine de Mercotte,” where she shares detailed recipes and valuable tips. The blog quickly became a go-to resource for baking enthusiasts, helping her gain greater visibility and recognition. Then, in 2012, she joined the judging panel of the famous cooking show “Le meilleur pâtissier.” This is how she became one of the show’s iconic faces. Currently, she is working on other projects away from the small screen, but remains close to her audience through food fairs and other events.
