The conference will focus in particular on high-profile cases that have made international headlines: the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul, the poisoning of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, and the murder of RFI journalists Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon in Kidal, northern Mali.

In addition to these investigations, the conference will offer a broader discussion on current events, particularly in light of the upcoming release of Amnesty International’s annual report on the state of human rights worldwide, focusing on the role of UN human rights protection mechanisms, their limitations, and the balance of power between states, international institutions, and civil society.

In partnership with Amnesty International Grenoble, the conference will be co-hosted by Franck Petiteville, Vice President for International Relations at Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA and a faculty member specializing in UN affairs, and Lorna Malossane, a high-level athlete (SHN) at Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA and regional representative for the Women’s Rights Committee of Amnesty International France.
