U.S. midterm elections: one year after Trump's victory

Andrew Yarrow, visiting professor at Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA, gave a lecture on November 13, 2025, focusing on the presidency of Donald Trump, the recent US midterm elections and, more broadly, American political life in the run-up to next year's midterm elections and the 2028 presidential election. He offered a review and analysis of the first ten months of Trump's second term, addressing his policies on immigration, tariffs, education, civil service, the federal budget and foreign policy.
Yarrow also revisited recent Democratic Party election victories in Virginia, New Jersey and New York, where Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of the country's largest city.
Finally, he discussed the popularity of Trump and his entourage, the debates surrounding redistricting in Texas, California and other states, and the prospects for Republicans and Democrats ahead of the 2026 and 2028 elections.
